Introducing the new Leslie 122H Heritage rotary speaker
When designing the new heritage series Leslie speakers the manufacturers researched and analyzed the main components of the original vintage models in order to reproduce The same warm tonal quality that is associated with fully valve Leslie speakers.
These new Leslie tone cabinets use the same lumber core that is also used in the Vintage 122 model. Two circuits give you the choice of either a 122 or 147 tone. Enjoy the warm sound of the vacuum tube 122 preamp or the powerful character of the 147.
The Heritage series tone cabinets feature a 11 pin Leslie terminal as well as a Jack line input TN4 used with instruments that don't have a multi-pin output. In addition, the manufacturer has equipped these models with a 4-pin input terminal for connecting organs with 5 pin and 6 pin Leslie terminals such as B3 C3 and A100.
The rotor speed as well as rise and fall times can be freely adjusted.
A brushless DC servo motor is used, and this is not affected by power frequency or voltage fluctuations.
CRAFTMANSHIP
Hammond-Suzuki introduces two special/deluxe-edition Leslie speakers designed to match the prized antiques. The Heritage Models 122H and 142H are the pinnacle of our craftsmanship, born through years of research and dedication to accuracy, authenticity and attention to detail. Consulting the original blueprints, engineer's notes, meticulous evaluation of prime antique Leslies, and memories of discussions with Don Leslie himself, Hammond-Suzuki's team has created works of art worthy of the legend. As beautiful to the ear as they are to the eye, these premium Leslie speakers fill the exacting needs of the most discerning musician, be it a hobbyist or a pro. The search for perfection is over.TUBE AMPLIFIER
The amp in the Leslie 122H is 40 watts, and it's a great sounding 40 watts (a pair of 6550 tubes driven by 12au7). The amplifier is built like a tank and will make the speaker sound with the full "power of the vacuum".SWITCHABLE
Perhaps the Heritage model's most notable modern convenience is its ability to switch between a "122-style" and a "147-style" preamp. The "122" style is a real vacuum-tube circuit, while the "147" style is transistor-driven. The power amp serving both preamps is a 40 watt tube variety, matching the output of classic Leslie cabinets.WOOFER
A new massive 15" woofer has been installed, reviving qualities found in legendary versions and aiming for the sound of the original C15L.BASS ROTOR
The bass rotor is constructed of wood in the classic shape. This bass rotor is produced in limited numbers, exclusive to the Heritage series only.HORN DRIVER
A new high-compression horn driver is installed based on the original V-21. Not only the characteristics of the speaker but also the shape of all parts that affect the sound were reproduced.SPINDLE
The spindle is the part on which the horn rotates. The bearings are made maintenance-free, and the measurements of the cushion (this is the area where the sound passes) have been reproduced based on the original size.HORN ROTOR
The actual horn rotor has been reproduced based on the shape of the 70's and earlier, which is widely recognised as having the best vintage sound.TENSION PULLEY
This is the part that absorbs the changes in belt tension when switching from slow to fast and vice versa. The construction follows the layout of the original structure and will keep the tension stable.CROSS-OVER
A special network circuit was designed for the heritage models that distributes the power of the amplifier between the horn and the woofer. The coil and condenser are based on how the sound should be from the original.MOTOR CONTROL
As one might imagine, while holding to classic construction, these premium speakers still provide modern conveniences. The motors driving the moving elements are brushless DC servo. They are not affected by power frequency or voltage fluctuations. The rise, fall and rotor speeds are freely adjustable. The motor control is located behind the nameplate and can be accessed by removing the bolt.LUMBER CORE
Since the wood greatly impacts the overall sound, the original wood material is again used. Lumber core is a plywood board that uses blocks of wood as its core material and which has a distinctive sound. The louvres are styled and based on the original. The large openings spread the sound reflected inside the cabinet to the outside.Cabinet: Lumber core; as used in the original vintage 122/142 models. |
