Kawai CA78 Digital Piano
The brand new Kawai CA78 Digital Piano not only features their most realistic wooden keyboard action, but now adds the convenience of Bluetooth, an LCD touchscreen display, and premium amplification never-before-seen in digital pianos. This, along with the new multi-channel piano sound, now means you can hear the flagship SK-EX Concert Grand Piano in even better quality, with authentic 88-note resonance, and Kawai’s most complex modelling. With the latest series, Kawai have maintained all the best elements and features of previous CA series pianos, and have added attributes that improve the playing and user experience.
Grand Feel Touch
Kawai have kept with the winning formula of their Grand Feel II keyboard action for the CA78. The wooden black and white keys have graded counterweights to ensure a light and responsive touch, along with a seesaw-style pivot to recreate the feel of an acoustic grand piano. Most digital pianos have a shorter key and a pivot at the rear, which doesn’t allow for the repetition the Grand Feel II achieves on this model. The final result is a key action that delivers the feel of playing a Kawai Grand Piano.
Piano Sound
The CA78 features a brand-new piano-only sound engine. The SK-EX Concert Grand has been recorded from multiple points across the soundboard, and as a result, the sound created is much more realistic than typical stereo sampling. The tonal characteristics, dynamic control, and expression come across much more accurately and even make for a more responsive touch as the piano reacts to your playing across all registers. Mathematical algorithms are used to reproduce the natural resonances of the Kawai SK-EX Concert Grand. The result is a rich, authentic tone. From string and damper resonance, to aliquot and key-off noise, the resonances are applied progressively across all 88 keys. Over 1000 parameters are active in real time, giving you the most detailed and authentic sound. On top of this brand new "Pianist Mode" feature, Kawai have kept the "Sound Mode" from previous models, including samples of the SK-EX, and SK5 Grand Pianos.
Premium Amplification
Kawai have collaborated with Japanese electronics manufacturer Onkyo in the manufacturing of the CA78. The sound resolution is unrivalled in digital pianos, thanks to 1-Bit DSD processing – as well as increasing the sound resolution, the depth and tonal quality are also enhanced. The harmonic character of the piano is maintained through the purest sound quality, with any digital noise and unwanted distortion eliminated. The amplifiers have a large dynamic range, and as a result, the presence and clarity of the sound is excellent. Brand new technology called “Discrete SpectraModule” reproduces a genuine acoustic piano sound through headphone playing, with fast responsiveness to changes in dynamics. In summary, the level of engineering and quality of the components used make for the highest quality sound you will find on a digital piano.
Bluetooth Technology
Where previous models have relied on wired connections to access external devices, the CA78 now comes with Bluetooth Audio and MIDI connectivity. Through Bluetooth MIDI you can record and play songs wirelessly, and connect to various apps on Smart Devices. The CA78 is compatible with iOS8, Android Marshmallow, and OS X Yosemite. The Bluetooth Audio function enables streaming of any audio file, allowing seamless accompaniment to your favourite songs, or even watching lesson videos online.
LCD Touchscreen
The CA78 features a brand new 5-inch colour touchscreen. Coming away from clicking buttons, this LCD screen lets you touch and swipe the screen to operate all the functions of the piano. The screen will turn off when you are playing or when the screen is inactive. The user interface is simple to use, helping you select sounds, songbooks, and concert magic with a touch or swipe. You can even save your favourite settings to come back to each time you turn the CA78 on.
Design
The attractive and practical design of previous CA series digital pianos has been maintained and improved. Along with the brand-new touchscreen, the CA78 features a 6-position music rest, a raised pedal unit to provide a more comfortable playing experience, and a coverless speaker opening above the keyboard. The toe block has been thinned and KAWAI badge repositioned.
